Giving Biodiversity Back to Billericay

At the 2024 Chelsea Flower Show, our ‘Diversity is Queen’ exhibition, created in collaboration with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, was awarded the Silver-Gilt medal. Key elements and plants from the exhibition have been donated to South Green Infant School and Nursery to continue to spread the campaign messages and create a passion for nature.
The forward-thinking school is environmentally conscious, with rain gardens, planters and various self-constructed growing areas already created. Ground Control's donations from the ‘Diversity is Queen’ exhibition has been seamlessly integrated into the environment and replaced an astroturf with a new educational and wildlife-friendly area.

Donations included a habitat bench (pictured below) designed to provide nesting opportunities for nature, wildflower turf, a fruit tree, and a series of plants from varying habitats on display in the exhibition.

In addition, exhibition features such as the raised planter and drystone wall boulders were also donated, with the boulders repurposed to create a dry stream.
