Jason Knights became CEO of Ground Control in April 2025 after four successful years as Managing Director. Since joining in 2020, he has driven sustainable growth, modernised operations, and positioned the company as a leading force for good in environmental services.

Before Ground Control, Jason spent a decade at Wates Group in senior leadership roles. As MD of SES Engineering Services, he led a major turnaround, restoring profitability and industry reputation after it was later acquired by Wates Construction in 2016. Earlier, he built Wates Building Services’ MEP division from the ground up, scaling it to £120 million in turnover in three years.

His early career includes roles at Mace, Multiplex, (notably on Wembley Stadium) and Hayden Young Ltd. He started at Mitie on their graduate scheme. Jason holds a degree in Building Engineering & Management from UWE and an MBA from Lancaster University.

Jason is now driving Ground Control’s ambitious growth strategy, investing in technology, decarbonisation, and talent to ensure long-term agility. Building on success in Ireland and key strategic partnerships, he aims to scale turnover beyond £300 million within three years.

A passionate advocate for purpose-led business, Jason champions Ground Control’s B Corp status, carbon neutrality, and leadership in biodiversity and decarbonisation.

Jason lives in Surrey with his family and is a keen runner and cyclist. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he enjoys both watching and playing a wide range of sports.
